I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your Lordship's despatch No.140 of 24th May, 1930, and to inform you that after consulting my Executive Council
I agree to the inclusion of a provision for a bonus of
three months salary in all agreements with candidates
engaged for a period of service in this Colony provided their work and conduct has been satisfactory.
2.
I take this opportunity of setting out below
the rules governing the grant of sick-leave and local leave
during the currency of such agreements.
SICK LEAVE.
The Officer may, in case of serious
indisposition, be absent from duty on full pay for a period
not exceeding twenty-eight days in any calendar year
provided that leave shall only be granted under this
regulation if it is certified by a Government Medical
Officer that the officer's illness incapacitates him from
the proper performance of his duties and is not the result
of his own imprudence. Absence on medical grounds beyond
a period of twenty-eight days in any calendar year will be
on half salary.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LORD PASSFIELD.
